An SCCAF Study (Short Circuit, Coordination, and Arc Flash) is not just a compliance box to check — it is a critical safety and reliability tool. At SAM Engineering LLC, we perform these studies to help you protect personnel, reduce equipment damage, and meet OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.
Our approach is data-driven and practical. We use industry-standard software (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower) and field-verified data to produce actionable reports and arc flash labels.

What is included in our SCCAF study:
Short Circuit Analysis – Available fault current at every bus
Coordination Study – Time-current curves (TCCs) to verify selective tripping
Arc Flash Analysis – Incident energy levels and arc flash boundary per IEEE 1584
Label Generation – Compliant arc flash warning labels for equipment
Report & Recommendations – Upgrades, breaker settings, or coordination improvements
Why you need an SCCAF study:
Required for OSHA compliance (1910.132, 1910.335)
Protects your workers from serious injury or death
Reduces unplanned shutdowns from nuisance tripping
Supports insurance and safety audits
Required for P.E. stamping of electrical upgrades
Facilities we serve:
Industrial manufacturing plants
Data centers and critical power environments
Water/wastewater treatment plants
Commercial buildings with large electrical services
Renewable energy and battery storage sites
We serve Nevada and Texas. All studies can be stamped by our licensed P.E. upon request.
FAQ – SCCAF Studies
Is an arc flash study legally required?
OSHA does not explicitly say “arc flash study,” but NFPA 70E is recognized as industry standard. OSHA cites NFPA 70E for compliance. Most facility owners and insurers require it.
How long does an SCCAF study take?
Typically 2–6 weeks depending on facility size and data availability. We prioritize safety-critical facilities.
Do you provide field data collection?
Yes, we can perform on-site data collection in Nevada and Texas. Travel outside these regions can be arranged.
Can you stamp the study for permitting?
Yes, all SCCAF studies can be reviewed and stamped by our P.E. for Nevada or Texas.
